“WOOF” Women Offering Obedience & Friendship
Our “WOOF” Program has been up and running since 06/11 and has been a wonderfully successfull program! It is a 2 part program. 1/2 the inmates assigned to WOOF help train service dog for disabled veterans and the other 1/2 help shelter dogs. Patriot Service Dogs partnered with Lowell Women’s Prison & Marion County Humane Society to help make shelter dogs more adoptable. Every 8 weeks a new group of rescue dogs are taken in to the prison where the inmates are given the opportunity to give back by helping the shelter dogs learn basic obedience & house manners, making them easier to adopt into forever homes.
After the shelter dogs have graduated from the 8 wk rogram, the humane society sets up a ‘Meet and Greet’ for the “WOOF” shelter dogs. To date we have had a 100% sucess rate. All of the dogs from the “WOOF” program have found forever homes! After each group have graduated and been adopted, a new group of lucky dogs will into the WOOF 8 week program.
If you are interested in adopting one of these wonderful “WOOF” dogs, donate something from our wish list below, OR if you’d like to volunteer, please contact Julie@PatriotServiceDogs.org Thank you!!!
